yeah i been thinking about "street hassle" a bunch in recent months, the title track yeah yeah we know, but how come everyone dismisses the rest of the album? it's the best shit he ever did! it's his "like flies on sherbert"! which is the best thing alex chilton ever did! people don't know shit.

You've just said in one paragraph that which has taken me a thousand words.

Listened to Rock n Roll Heart yesterday and while the music is slick and insultingly formulaic (except for the jazzy stuff which is great) those are some of the best lyrics

my favourite lou album might actually be "the bells", side 2 of that album is genius shit. but for whatever reason even tho i've been a fan of lou for lo these many years there are a whole bunch of his records i never bothered to listen to at all. "rocknroll heart" i only know the title song, pretty good, the lyrics are funny. "new wave french movies just drive me away". oh is that song "temporary thing" on that record? that's a great song too.

i did pay i think $30 or something (way more than i normally allowed myself to pay for records) for a copy of "metal machine music" & i'm glad i did. here's your real "rock&roll poetry"!

incidentally i once asked john segovia who his favourite rock guitarist was & he said "lou reed". dudes with proper "chops" don't usually seem to get what's so great about lou's gtr playing but segovia knows the score.
