i'm of the opinion that factual errors are of no real signif in this type of essay but bill haley & his dudes were originally a country band, not jazzniks, surely?

anyway great as usual. a new threnody for r'n'r must be written every decade.

The Comets sound like western swing to me which I always think of as a branch of jazz, but then Maybellene was based on a western swing song and it's called country, so I'll work out how to resolve that.

ps every time I write one of these essays I am powerfully tempted to include historical errors. What's the point of retelling the story on wiki or whatever when a lie would be more true to the facts.
